Wood Element

Wood Element

The Wood Element represents birth and growth, the bamboo shoot that bolts out of the thaw of the frozen ground.  Its season is spring and the wind associated with it.  Wood grows in forms of trees and it is said that the best kind of Wood to aspire to be is bamboo.  A tree that grows fast and strong withstands the strong winds because it is flexible and well-rooted.  This element is in charge of planning and doing; it’s the achiever and the drive within us.  It has the energetics of rising up, hence its emotion is anger.  Wood Element’s virtue is benevolence, doing good for others.  As we strive to excel, to be moving upwards and doing things in our lives that require our tenacity and focus, we call for the energy of Wood to help propel that drive and to maintain a well-balanced path.

As a Yang element, the Wood personality is always active.  Wood people are goal oriented; they complete their projects.  They are objective; they create lists and deadlines.  They know how to get from point A to point B as directly as possible, with few distractions.  They like to be leaders.

Wood types make good researchers.  They seek a higher level of education and are very knowledgeable.  They can be innovators.  They are the scientists and artists who are interested in practicality.  They are not necessarily interested in money.

Wood types are often stubborn.   While it is possible for them to branch out, they usually follow only one direction.  If they deviate, they will come back to their original path.  When their objectives is not reached, they become angry or frustrated.
