Larimar — Renewal of the Heart
Larimar’s soft blue and white patterns resemble sunlight dancing across tropical waters. Found only in the Dominican Republic, it is often called the “stone of the Caribbean” and is treasured for its uplifting presence. Its gentle beauty carries the freshness of spring air and new beginnings, reminding the spirit to grow, release, and move forward with ease.
In Daoist Five Element theory, larimar embodies the Wood element, the energy of growth, benevolence (ren), and renewal. Like young shoots rising after winter, it encourages expansion and helps soften resistance to change. Larimar guides the Shen (spirit) toward compassion and adaptability, creating a sense of harmony within relationships and within oneself.
Worn close to the skin, larimar supports honest communication, self-expression, and emotional release. It eases frustration, restores patience, and helps the wearer align with the natural cycles of growth. In modern traditions, it is often associated with feminine wisdom and the soothing power of nature.
Mineral composition: Larimar is a rare variety of pectolite, a sodium calcium inosilicate. Its sky-blue color comes from traces of copper, and its swirling white and green patterns reflect its volcanic origins near the sea.
