When people ask me what the most "Hawaiian" item I have in my collection, I tend to mention the sunrise shells are the best representation of Hawaii. These shells are endemic to the islands meaning you can't find them anywhere else in the world! How special is that?! These shells, mostly found in Kauai and Oahu, are hard to find in perfect form on the beach. They are usually found in deeper waters while diving and sifting sand. Each of these shells are natural in color and uniquely patterned like a fingerprint. No two are alike. Some have tiger stripes, some are yellow and pink, and some are greenish and blue (those are called moonrise shells but still the same animal!), and even some are albino white. The shells make for a very special memento and a great representation of what our Hawaiian Islands have to offer!
